Our vision for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) is to build an organisation where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered.
By sharing power, fostering belonging, and championing equity, we will embody the fairer future we’re all working towards.
For us, diversity is the variety of experiences, backgrounds, and identities that exist at Mission 44. It’s about ensuring that a multitude of perspectives are present at our table, and that our organisation represents the communities we exist to serve.
Equity means creating a level playing field in our organisation, with fair treatment, access to opportunities, and a chance to succeed regardless of background. We are committed to social justice, and will work to identify and dismantle existing barriers that may prevent certain groups from reaching their full potential.
Inclusion is about creating a culture where everyone feels empowered to participate and contribute their unique talents. It’s also about including voices that are traditionally underrepresented, or not listened to, in our work. It’s the collective responsibility of all individuals and teams to build this culture.
Belonging signifies feeling valued, accepted, welcomed and empowered to be your authentic self. It's about fostering a sense of connection, recognition and psychological safety where everyone thrives.
Building a fairer future for young people globally requires different perspectives and innovative solutions. We are committed to diversity across our team, Board and leadership because we believe it encourages innovation, makes our impact greater and our decision-making stronger.
Mission 44’s Nominations Committee is responsible for reviewing the composition of our Board and ensuring that it has the skills, diversity of experience, and commitment necessary to support our mission.
We are developing an inclusive recruitment policy as part of our 2024/25 DEIB Action Plan, to ensure our recruitment practices set up candidates with a wide range of perspectives and experiences for success.
These graphs represent data collected voluntarily from our staff team in June 2024. As a new foundation, this was our first time collecting this data from our team, and we have used NCVO’s voluntary sector workforce data collected in December 2022 as a comparison. Data will be updated annually, and going forward be used to inform our recruitment plans and targets where appropriate, as well as to benchmark our progress in future years.
