Our mission

Our mission

We’re on a mission to empower young people to overcome social injustice and succeed.

We exist to

EMPOWER
YOUNG
PEOPLE

EMPOWER YOUNG PEOPLE

Mission 44 was founded by Sir Lewis Hamilton, whose first-hand experience of an education system that worked against him, and whose success as the only person of colour in his field, have left him determined to build a fairer, more inclusive future for young people around the world.

Our name is a reference to Lewis’s racing car number and a reminder that it’s possible to succeed no matter what your background.

We want to

BUILD A
FAIRER FUTURE

We believe a fairer, more inclusive future is possible, and it begins with these three priorities:

EDUCATION
Build an inclusive education system in which every young person is supported to succeed.
EMPLOYMENT
Create opportunities for young people to pursue great careers in STEM and motorsport.
EMPOWERMENT
Empower young people to take action and shape the world they live in.
Our partners

DISRUPT THE STATUS QUO

Change on a global scale requires collective action. So we’re backing innovators and system-changers across education, employment and empowerment. With an established network of partners in the UK, we’re now extending our reach to the US and Brazil.

Our people

We are curious

We are evidence-led and continuously learning how best to grow our impact.

We act with integrity

We are honest and transparent, and build trust-based relationships.

We are inclusive

We put equity at the heart of everything and amplify the voices of the underrepresented.
